MILWAUKEE – The CONEXPO-CON/AGG Next Level Awards celebrated exhibiting companies like Digga Manufacturing and their HALO Auger Alignment System that are pushing the boundaries of construction technology and to advance the construction industry. Digga was chosen as a finalist for the inaugural Next Level Awards at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023.
Digga’s HALO is the first LED visual alignment system built into the hood of augers and screw anchor heads, providing instant feedback in any lighting to the operator in the cab. A 360-degree band of LED lights indicate when the auger is plumb, and when the auger goes out of plumb, it provides a sequence of red and green lights to help the operator guide it back correctly.
“We looked for a cheaper and easier way for machine operators to drill straight holes or to improve the installation of helical piers, as current solutions were expensive and cumbersome,” said Digga CEO Alan Wade. “We’re proud of the HALO Auger Alignment System, as it costs a quarter of other systems out there, takes a fraction of the time to set up, it’s much easier to use and it keeps the jobsite safer.”
What makes HALO different from existing systems is it eliminates the need for setup, it eliminates the need to run wires from the auger to the cab and it eliminates the need to have an additional screen in the cab. With HALO, the operator can keep their eyes on what they’re doing, because that’s where the information is, right on the auger itself.
“During testing, operators who tried HALO said they’d never go back to a traditional system,” Wade said. “Since releasing the product, we’ve heard the same thing hundreds of times.”
Wade says they’re currently working on a mobile app that will open up new features like flashing warning lights, sensor sensitivity and light brightness settings for night work applications. Additionally, since the HALO unit itself is effectively a small computer, Digga is working on taking advantage of that power by developing additional sensors for temperature, auger RPM and torque measurements.
“Digga’s HALO is such a thoughtful innovation for operators who work with augers, I’m surprised nobody came up with it before. It just makes so much sense,” said CONEXPO-CON/AGG Show Director Dana Wuesthoff. “And that’s why CONEXPO-CON/AGG, and it’s panel of judges from the Association of General Contractors, selected it as a finalist for the inaugural Next Level Awards.”
